Ask us!

    Carers

A key part of the support we offer to carers is to ‘signpost’ or introduce you to the services which may help you as a carer, as well as the person living with dementia who you care for. For details on national and local support groups see our service directory below.

Our Support Workers can signpost you to other services, which may be of help to you and your family, such as:

    • Financial support with housing, benefits, and debt
    • Dementia awareness information
    • Advocacy
    • Adult Social Care assessments
    • Health services and specialist
    • Peer and community support groups and events
    • Respite care
    • Carer support groups (we are particularly interested in hearing from carers who would like support in setting up their own group).

What do we mean by ‘signposting’? For some people, information is enough to help them find support. For others they may need to be introduced or ‘referred’ to a service. Occasionally, a person may need to be accompanied to ensure there is nothing in the way of them getting the support they need.

    When the time is right

We will support you throughout your loved ones’ diagnosis. As a carer, you may be offered various information for yourself and your loved one. During this time, we will follow up with you regularly, and when you are ready, we can look at the appropriate information and support for you.

    Get in touch.

If you are worried about somebody in your family, or are struggling yourself, please get in touch. We are here to support carers.
